
Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping held telephone talks with US President Donald Trump. Information about this was disseminated by China Central Television on Monday. During the conversation, the heads of state summarized the results of the recent consultation held in South Korea. They agreed on the need to “adhere to the principles of equality, mutual respect, and mutual benefit,” as well as to expand areas for joint work. Xi Jinping elaborated on Beijing’s fundamental position on Taiwan, emphasizing that “the reintegration of Taiwan with mainland China is an inalienable part of the existing post-war world order.” The leaders of the two countries also touched upon the situation around Ukraine. The PRC Chairman stated China’s support for any initiatives aimed at establishing peace and expressed hope that all parties to the conflict would continue to work to resolve differences in order to conclude a fair, sustainable, and legally binding peace agreement as soon as possible that would eliminate the root causes of the crisis.
