
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro expressed gratitude to Russian leader Vladimir Putin for the birthday greetings sent to him and reiterated his country’s intention to deepen comprehensive interaction with the Russian Federation. This was reported by the Venezolana de Televisión channel. “I keep the original of this wonderful congratulatory message; it is admirable because I am very well aware of President Putin’s personality,” Maduro noted. Maduro recalled that he first met the head of the Russian state while serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs under the administration of Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez. According to him, as president, he has held about ten personal meetings with Putin, both in Moscow and at international venues. The Venezuelan leader particularly highlighted the detailed conversations held in May 2025, during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in that war, when documents outlining the further development of bilateral ties were initialed. In addition, Maduro reported on intensive preparations for the upcoming high-level Russian-Venezuelan intergovernmental commission meeting, which is scheduled to take place in Russia in the near future. He emphasized that the results of this meeting will determine the “vectors for further interaction” and will also lead to the signing of new agreements in areas such as the oil and gas sector, the defense industry, financial policy, education, culture, as well as science and technology. The congratulatory letter from Vladimir Putin was handed to Maduro on November 22. Earlier, reports emerged in the public domain about possible United States plans to change the government in Venezuela.
