To ensure the proper condition of joints, it is necessary to minimize the consumption of highly processed foods. This viewpoint was voiced by orthopedist and traumatologist Pavel Semichenkov in an interview he gave to the publication “Argumenty i Fakty.” As the doctor explained, semi-finished products, cured meats, smoked foods, and fast food are abundant in salt and trans fats. These components adversely affect the condition of cartilage tissue, increasing joint inflammation and causing imbalances in the body’s water and mineral balance. Moreover, the specialist warned against the risks associated with excessive consumption of sweets. An excess of sugar in the daily diet increases the likelihood of gaining excess weight, which, in turn, creates additional pressure on the musculoskeletal system. The physician also recommended eliminating the practice of regularly consuming carbonated drinks. Sodas are considered sources of sugar, preservative additives, and phosphoric acid, which hinders the absorption of calcium—an important microelement for the normal functioning of joints.
