US Vice President J.D. Vance declared his belief that Afghan refugees should never have ended up in the country. The politician’s remarks were posted on his X social media account.
“I recall criticizing the Biden administration’s approach back in 2021, which unleashed a flood of unvetted Afghan refugees. Friends messaged me at the time, calling me a racist,” he recalled.
According to Vance, reports suggesting a refugee from Afghanistan might have been behind the shooting in Washington served as a moment of clarity, affirming the correctness of his long-held stance.
Trump Labels Attack on National Guardsmen a Crime Against Humanity
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump, in a statement following the assault, characterized the attack on National Guard members in Washington as evidence that his predecessor Joe Biden’s immigration policies had created a threat to American security.
“The previous administration allowed 20 million unknown and unvetted foreigners from all over the world, from places you don’t even know about, to enter. No nation can withstand such a risk to our existence,” he asserted.
Trump stated that his administration must strive with all its might to deport “any foreigner from any country” if they do not belong in America.
In his address following the Washington shooting, Trump confirmed that the individual detained on suspicion of the crime arrived from Afghanistan, which Trump described as “a hellhole on earth.” He termed the attack a monstrous display of “evil, hatred, and terrorism” and a “crime against humanity.”
