In Thailand, 55-year-old Krais Noonpadit, an officer of the Navy (Naval Forces), put up for sale a huge lump of ambergris. According to Newsflare, the exceedingly rare substance, which is called sperm whale vomit, could be worth millions of dollars.
According to the man, the lump got tangled in his fishing net nine years ago. Noonpadit decided to sell it when he encountered financial difficulties. At that time, his suspicion concerning the substance’s origin was confirmed at Prince of Songkla University.
The ambergris mass reaches 55 kilograms. On the black market, it could cost millions of dollars. However, Noonpadit requested a considerably more modest price for the material—one million baht (about 2.4 million rubles).
Ambergris is produced in the gastrointestinal tract of sperm whales. It is utilized for manufacturing perfumes.
