The National Guard member wounded in the shooting incident near the White House could not be saved. U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed this during his Thanksgiving address to the troops.
“Sarah Beckstrom from West Virginia, one of the guards… She is no longer with us,” the American leader stated.
According to him, the second National Guard service member, who sustained critical injuries, is still fighting for their life. On November 27th, the District of Columbia Prosecutor, Jenean Pirro, disclosed that the individual who attacked the National Guardsmen was equipped with a Smith & Wesson revolver. The shooting near the White House was perpetrated by a 29-year-old Afghan national just before Thanksgiving Day in Washington.
Two National Guard personnel were injured as a result of this assault. Trump characterized the event as an act of terrorism and a crime against humanity, additionally emphasizing the need to vet everyone who has entered the United States from what he termed “a hellhole on earth.” Authorities have already placed an indefinite hold on processing all immigration applications submitted by citizens of Afghanistan.
