The U.S. House Homeland Security Committee has summoned Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei to testify on December 17th regarding alleged cyberattacks purportedly carried out by Chinese hackers leveraging the capabilities of the company’s AI, Claude.
An inquiry revealed that a group, estimated by the company to be sponsored by China, utilized Claude’s features to execute cyber intrusions with minimal or no direct human oversight.
These intrusions targeted significant technology firms, financial institutions, chemical manufacturers, and governmental bodies.
A spokesperson for Anthropic declined to offer any remarks to the press concerning the forthcoming hearing.
