In Japan, a washing machine for individuals emerged that permits body “washing” accompanied by music. Barron’s reports this.
The prototype of the “Washing Machine for People of the Future” garnered considerable attention at the World Expo in Osaka. This device represents an updated version of a product initially revealed by the Science company in 1970. A hotel in Osaka and the Yamada Denki chain of stores have already purchased several units.
When bathing in this machine, the user reclines inside a 2.3-meter-long capsule. It employs micro-bubbles and a fine mist-shower. Drying activates automatically following the wash. The entire “wash and dry” process takes around 15 minutes.
Inside the capsule, calming visualizations and tunes can be played. Integrated sensors monitor the user’s condition, including heart rate and body posture, allowing adjustments to be tailored to the person.
The manufacturers believe such a device could be beneficial for elderly individuals or those with restricted mobility who find taking a standard shower challenging.
“Since the allure of this machine is partly due to its scarcity, we plan to release only about 50 units,” stated Satiko Maekura, a spokesperson for Science.
