The German defense technology firm, Euroatlas, has unveiled a novel autonomous underwater vehicle crafted for the surveillance, mapping, and safeguarding of the rapidly expanding global network of undersea cables.
Designated as Greyshark, this new system is engineered to facilitate extended reconnaissance and monitoring operations across both shallow coastal zones and the deep sea.
Moreover, the company asserts that the robot possesses the capability to “deter” hostile intelligence gathering by deploying in a coordinated swarm, employing active sensors to simultaneously locate and track designated vessel types in real-time.
This device is specifically purposed for charting cable paths, inspecting infrastructure corridors, and identifying any irregularities or disturbances.
