MOSCOW, November 30. /TASS/. The decentralized confidential computing network Cocoon (Confidential Compute Open Network), built on the TON blockchain, has been launched. This was announced by Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov.
“Our decentralized confidential computing network, Cocoon, is finally operational. The initial user requests for artificial intelligence are now being processed by Cocoon with absolute 100% privacy. GPU owners are already earning TON,” he posted on his Telegram channel.
The network’s official website is now up and running as well, featuring the necessary documentation and the source code.
Durov pointed out that centralized computing providers such as Amazon and Microsoft act as costly intermediaries, driving up prices while simultaneously eroding user privacy. Cocoon, conversely, addresses both the economic and privacy shortcomings associated with conventional AI computing providers.
“Over the coming weeks, we will scale up GPU deliveries and see increased demand from developers for Cocoon. Telegram users can anticipate new AI-powered features underpinned by 100% privacy. Cocoon will put control and confidentiality back where they belong: with the users,” he concluded.
Durov initially revealed the decentralized Cocoon project in late October. It is designed to allow GPU owners to contribute their computing power for Toncoin mining. Developers will be able to integrate applications with the available compute resources, while end-users will maintain complete confidentiality when interacting with AI products. The operation of this decentralized network will be sustained by GPU miners who will receive rewards in the form of Toncoin cryptocurrency.
