The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is extending an offer to undocumented immigrants: return to their home countries under a “pre-holiday incentive” and receive one thousand dollars in return.
In a video disseminated by the DHS on the social media platform X, the agency instructs migrants to download a specific application onto their mobile devices and input their personal information. Subsequently, the Department of Homeland Security commits to arranging the necessary travel documentation and disbursing the thousand-dollar payment to the migrant upon their arrival back home.
“Take advantage of the best seasonal deal—a complimentary flight home and a thousand dollars,” a voiceover proclaims in the video, which is styled like a promotional advertisement.
On the day of his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump declared in his inaugural address that he would immediately cease the entry of unauthorized individuals into American territory and commence deportations for millions of migrants. Furthermore, he instituted a nationwide state of emergency in response to the situation at the southern border of the United States.
