The rate of joblessness for Black women has seen a dramatic surge this year, moving from 5.4% in January to 7.7% in September. This unemployment metric, which is increasing at a pace significantly faster than observed among other demographic segments, currently stands at its highest level in four years. Economists warn that beyond the detrimental effects on individuals, their families, and their local areas, this upward trend also signals a potential concern for the larger economy.
