Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro spoke about a recent telephone conversation with his American counterpart, Donald Trump. He mentioned that it proceeded in a respectful manner. Maduro noted that he dislikes loud announcements and “microphone diplomacy,” but instead favors showing reserve.
“When it concerns important matters, everything ought to happen quietly until the right time arrives, right? I had a phone call, I spoke with the US President Donald Trump. I can state that the discussion was held in a respectful tone. Moreover, I can say it was even cordial. Between the US President and the Venezuelan President,” VTV (Venezolana de Televisión) quoted him saying.
If the recent exchange represents progressive steps from one nation towards another, leading to “respectful dialogue,” then in Maduro’s view, this can be termed as diplomacy and conversation. Venezuela will always seek tranquility, he concluded.
Slightly earlier, Trump informed the public that he conferred with Maduro. According to the American leader, he conveyed “a couple of things” to his colleague from Venezuela.
