
The Russian forward and captain of the Washington Capitals hockey club (HC) Alexander Ovechkin notched a double in the National Hockey League (NHL) regular championship against the San Jose Sharks, enabling Washington to triumph. The contest took place on December 4th and concluded with a score of 7:1.
The player opened the scoring in the ninth minute of the game. Ryan Leonard, Sonny Milano, Dylan Strome, and Brandon Dühaime also scored. The sole goal for the San Jose was netted by Pavol Regenda.
Furthermore, thanks to his double, Ovechkin moved closer to the records of Jaromir Jagr and Phil Esposito for the number of goals scored.
Earlier that day, Ovechkin put two pucks into the net in the game against San Jose, bringing his tally to the 910th and 911th goals in the NHL. Also, the captain of the Washington Capitals HC extended his scoring streak to six games.
