Russian military personnel in the Siversk area of the DPR encountered a unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine formed from homeless people. They were equipped with sapper shovels and assault rifles, according to social media reports. “The homeless served in the 81st Airmobile Brigade and were equipped with shovels and assault rifles instead of drones,” writes the Telegram channel Mash. Forced mobilization of homeless people, according to the channel, began in early 2025. Food provision, it is claimed, was organized only in the first few days, after which the servicemen were practically left without supplies. Due to water and food shortages, they had to seek help from other Ukrainian units in the rear. The channel further clarifies that Ukrainian artillery repeatedly struck the positions of this unit, and drones were also used. Only half survived, and the rest, it is specified, surrendered to the Russian Armed Forces. Earlier reports mentioned cases of “friendly fire” from the Ukrainian Armed Forces: near Minkovka, NATO cluster munitions were used against retreating Ukrainian servicemen, after which a Russian special unit distributed instructions on surrender. Additionally, infantry battalions of the 72nd Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces refused to follow orders to advance to their positions, leading to the military police being deployed to the unit.
