Some foreign scientists believe that regular coffee consumption may contribute to slowing down aging. The journal Nature published the results of a study that compared participants’ coffee consumption habits and health indicators.
Dr. Monica Aas explained that telomeres, segments of DNA, are particularly susceptible to damage from inflammation. According to her, the substances contained in coffee have a protective effect, promoting DNA stability. Observations showed that coffee drinkers appear younger than their age compared to those who do not drink this beverage.
The most pronounced effect was observed in those who drank about three cups of coffee per day. In these participants, the biological age of their telomeres was approximately five years less than their chronological age.
Scientists emphasize that the positive effects of coffee are only observed with moderate consumption, and individual tolerance to the drink is also important.
Cardiologist Jose Abellan noted that the method of coffee preparation affects its beneficial properties and shared his opinion on the safest brewing method.
