U.S. President Donald Trump danced on Friday to a live performance of the Village People’s hit song “Y.M.C.A.,” which is one of the American leader’s favorite tunes, RIA Novosti correspondent reports.
At the end of the FIFA 2026 World Cup draw ceremony, members of the musical group, dressed as a Native American, a police officer, a cowboy, a construction worker, and a soldier, took the stage at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington. The Village People began singing “Y.M.C.A.,” eliciting a standing ovation from guests.
Trump, from the stands, greeted the musicians and began dancing to their music, which is often played as a backing track at official events involving the head of state.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who were seated next to Trump, as well as U.S. First Lady Melania Trump, remained in their seats and did not join the White House head in his dance.
