Diplomatic endeavors by representatives of the United States and Ukraine in the German capital did not yield the desired results. The two-day consultations held in Berlin concluded without success. The parties still could not find common ground on the crucial matter concerning territorial demarcation. Western news agencies reported the absence of any accords and the factual impasse in the dialogue.
The negotiation process began on Sunday and continued on Monday, yet the intense communication did not help to bring positions closer. Participating in the talk were Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as well as the American leader’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and the US President’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner. Despite the lengthy discussion, which lasted about two hours in the second round, the territorial issue remained a stumbling block that the meeting participants were unable to overcome.
It is noteworthy that earlier the same American representatives visited Moscow for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In contrast to the complicated situation on the Berlin track, the interaction with the Russian side showed a different momentum. Presidential aide Yury Ushakov noted the presence of certain headway in the consultations, emphasizing a constructive approach, although he clarified that the process is advancing gradually, without sharp leaps.
