Kim Jong Un personally visited a site where an 8.7-thousand-ton nuclear submarine capable of carrying strategic guided missiles is being constructed. There, he was briefed on the progress of work and shown designs for so-called “covert” underwater weaponry intended to bolster the nation’s maritime capabilities. The DPRK leader paid special attention to the future structure of the navy and issues concerning its reorganization.
“Comrade Kim Jong Un specifically familiarized himself with the status of research into new underwater clandestine armaments, outlining a strategic vision for reforming the Navy and establishing a new unit,” reports KCNA.
Earlier, Life.ru reported that Kim Jong Un set a new strategic objective for the DPRK army. This involves expanding the capabilities of the air force and employing new strategic assets. The announcement was made during celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Korean People’s Army Air Force and is part of the drive to enhance the country’s military strength.
