A Reddit user shared an interesting tale: he ordered two Samsung 9100 PRO solid-state drives from Amazon, but received two boxes containing the drives, rather than two individual units. According to him, the total worth of the “extra” drives reaches 6 thousand dollars.
The post’s author claims he is currently contemplating what to do with the unexpected bonus: sell some of the SSDs or build a completely SSD-focused NAS storage system. He also states that he contacted Amazon customer support, who supposedly informed him that he could keep the shipment.
This is not the first similar incident. In June 2025, a case was discussed on the Reddit forum where a buyer ordered a single 2TB Samsung 990 EVO Plus SSD but received a box with nine drives. Such occurrences have been documented before.
For reference: The Samsung 9100 PRO is an M.2 2280 format SSD supporting PCIe 5.0 x4 and NVMe 2.0, with stated speeds up to 14,800 MB/s (read) and 13,400 MB/s (write).
