The company Xiaomi unveiled the flagship smartphones Xiaomi 17 Ultra and its customized Leica Edition. The devices are presented as possessing the best main camera of the next year and feature a flat screen, along with unique integration with Apple products, according to the Xiaomi press service.
The presentation of the new items took place in China. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra became the first in the Ultra series with a completely flat 6.9-inch OLED screen and the thinnest body—8.29 mm. The smartphone runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and is equipped with a 6800 mAh battery supporting 90-watt fast charging.
“The unveiling occurred in China, and the new product has become one of the most notable upgrades to the Ultra lineup in recent years—both in terms of design and concerning the camera, performance, and other capabilities,” the company’s statement reads.
The camera system has been named the key feature. The primary module utilizes a 1-inch sensor, while the 200-megapixel telephoto lens with a Samsung HPE sensor supports continuous optical zoom in the range of 75–100 mm. One of the unexpected functions is enhanced two-way integration with the Apple ecosystem for mirror control of devices.
The Leica Edition version distinguishes itself with a design inspired by Leica cameras and features a mechanical Master Zoom Ring around the camera module for physical control over zoom and shooting settings.
Sales in China commence on December 27. The base version of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage will be priced from 6999 yuan (around $995). The Leica Edition in the minimum configuration is valued at 7999 yuan (around $1138).
