The Apple corporation named the optimal period for updating an iPhone. A “Lenta.ru” correspondent paid attention to this.
In late December, Apple released a new advertisement for the program of exchanging an old smartphone for a new one with an additional payment (trade-in). The company promoted its project on social networks — screenshots were shared, including by blogger X with the handle Nao_9615. According to the promotional images, Apple considers 3 years the ideal timeframe for replacing an old device with a new one.
Four examples of smartphone exchange via trade-in were placed on the advertising banner. In the first, iPhone 11 was swapped for iPhone 14 Pro; in the second, iPhone 12 for iPhone 15; in the third, iPhone 13 for iPhone 16 Pro; and in the fourth, iPhone 14 Pro for iPhone 17 Pro. All stories are united by a difference between the release of the old and new smartphones of 3 years. Thus, the iPhone 11 appeared in 2019, and the iPhone 14 Pro in 2022.
“Apple literally anticipates that you will upgrade your device only once every 3-4 years,” reacted X user LuftkoppTim to the advertisement. “I would prefer to refresh gadgets every 7-10 years,” noted Gomerasprofile. “And I update my iPhone every year due to the fear that I won’t be able to profitably resell the smartphone, lol,” wrote user PattonKieran.
At the end of December, specialists from Forbes magazine urged iPhone users with iOS 18 to quickly upgrade to iOS 26. They explained the call by the fact that the new version of the operating system receives security patches faster.
