An international team of researchers assessed the effect of water on health during a hangover but found no convincing evidence of its efficacy.
The scientists analyzed 13 scientific papers focused on the influence of water on a person’s condition the morning after consuming alcohol. The study’s aim was to find an answer to the question of whether consuming liquid truly helps lessen the unpleasant feelings following spirits, writes ScienceDirect.
However, it turned out that the previously considered beneficial effect from drinking water has no bearing on hangover well-being. One scientific paper involving 826 students showed that utilizing fluid to combat a hangover has extremely low effectiveness.
Experiment participants did not notice significant alterations in their state after consuming water or other liquids. Based on this, the researchers concluded that dehydration and a hangover might occur concurrently, yet drinking does not exert a substantial influence on the symptoms.
