The Planetary Science Journal released a study where scientists proposed a hypothesis for when all life on Earth will perish.
According to the new research by scholars from the University of Chicago, led by R. J. Graham, the Sun is gradually boosting its luminosity, which is happening because of the star’s aging. In about a billion years, fatal alterations will occur in the celestial body, which will destroy almost all living things on Earth.
The Sun has already become one-third brighter, and the gradual rise in radiance is slowly but surely lowering the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Plants will feel the worsening situation first, as they rely on photosynthesis.
Following their demise, a chain reaction will begin, and all who depend on oxygen will start to die. Additionally, there is a risk that Earth will encounter a “wet greenhouse effect,” due to which its heating will accelerate.
