Olympic champion and State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova expressed the view that FIFA will not revoke the United States’ right to host the World Cup.
“If it weren’t for the American sponsors everywhere… The situation is certainly fascinating. This is still armed conflict. By the way, I am against barring American athletes. They clearly won’t be charged with the same things as us, let’s be frank. The UN should somehow comment. But the USA, of course, will not be stripped of the right to host the World Cup. Well, who will host it? Do you think there’s a line of volunteers?” Zhurova is quoted by “Match TV.”
The world championship will take place from June 11 to July 19. Matches will be hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
