Denmark’s national squad triumphed over the German team in the final of the Men’s European Handball Championship.
In the decisive contest, held in Herning, Denmark, the Danes secured a victory with a final score of 34:27 (having led 18:16 at the half).
For the bronze medal, Croatia’s team defeated Iceland with a narrow margin of 34:33 (with a halftime score of 17:14).
This marks the third time in their history that the Danish national team has claimed the European Championship title. Under the guidance of Nikolaj Jacobsen, the squad has now secured victories in every major international tournament, having previously triumphed at both the Olympic Games and the World Championship.
The 2026 European Championship is scheduled to take place across Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. For the 2028 edition of the event, the host nations will be Spain, Portugal, and Switzerland.
It should be noted that in March 2022, the European Handball Federation (EHF) and the International Handball Federation (IHF) imposed a ban, suspending Russian and Belarusian national teams and clubs from participating in international competitions.
