The Finnish national ice hockey team crushed Slovakia in the bronze medal game at the 2026 Olympics, securing the third-place finish and the bronze medals. The Finns had been the reigning champions from the previous Games.

Team Finland prevailed with a decisive 6-1 victory, with four of the then-reigning bronze medalists’ goals coming in the final period. For Finland, goals were registered by Sebastian Aho, Roope Hintz, Kaapo Kakko, and Joel Armia, while Erik Haula netted two. Slovakia’s sole marker came late in the second period, courtesy of Tomas Tatar.
The Finnish contingent had previously claimed the gold medal at the preceding Winter Olympics held in Beijing, where they defeated the ROC team 2-1 in the final match. Slovakia, taking the bronze that year, accomplished this by scoring four unanswered goals against Sweden.
The gold medal contest for the Olympic ice hockey tournament is scheduled for February 22nd, pitting the national teams of Canada and the USA against each other for the championship.
