Police officers in New York City were pelted with snowballs. The law enforcement personnel had responded to a call at Washington Square. Local residents had reported disturbances of the peace. Several American officers required medical attention, as reported by Fox News.
“This is the kind of adversity NYPD officers face. Our police will receive medical care, but this situation cannot simply end there. Those involved must be identified, apprehended, and charged with assaulting a police officer,” stated the police union.
The arriving officers were met with a distinctly hostile reception from the crowd. Disorderly individuals threw snowballs at the officers, aiming for their heads. Soon thereafter, an ambulance arrived at the scene and transported several officers to the hospital. Medical professionals assessed their condition as stable. As the perpetrators could not be immediately apprehended, the investigation remains ongoing.
