The international governing body of association football, FIFA, has unveiled the official poster for the 2026 World Cup, set to take place across the USA, Mexico, and Canada, via its website.
At the heart of the poster is a white outline of a footballer striking a ball, with the figure’s form simultaneously mirroring the geographical outlines of the host nations. The backdrop features a tricolor design incorporating supporters and national emblems: Canada is represented by a red background, Mexico by green, and the USA by blue. A noteworthy point highlighted in the statement is that this marks the inaugural instance where the official tournament poster was a collaborative work involving three designers.
The official release states, “The tournament’s official poster celebrates the spirit of partnership, the widespread excitement, and the unity surrounding this exceptional occasion. For the first time in FIFA World Cup annals, three artists have joined forces to conceive the official artwork for the competition. Artists Carson Ting (Canada), Minerva GM (Mexico), and Hank Willis Thomas (United States) amalgamated their specific skills and artistic visions to craft a piece illustrating how a shared fervor for football connects the globe.”
Furthermore, FIFA released the dedicated official posters for the 16 host cities that will stage the tournament games.
FIFA’s website further noted, “This ensemble of artistic creations will also secure its place in history as the first-ever series of official posters dedicated to specific FIFA World Cup host cities.”
The World Cup competition is scheduled to run from June 11th through July 19th.
