
The operations executed by bots employed in cyberattacks are progressively mirroring the behavior patterns of typical human users, which complicates the process of blocking their network traffic.
This observation was reported by TASS, citing intelligence from the cybersecurity firm F6. F6 indicated that malicious bot traffic currently accounts for 41% of all attack traffic. Experts suggest that sophisticated bots are capable of bypassing even anti-phishing defenses, as their AI algorithms mimic regular human interaction. For every individual request, a distinct IP address and a unique digital fingerprint of the device are generated. The “intelligent bot” strives in every way to emulate a person: by clicking on various spots across a webpage or application, introducing pauses of varying lengths between clicks and requests, and accessing multiple pages of the same service within a single browser window. Conversely, lower-tier bots exhibit more uniform, repetitive actions.
According to data from RED Security, sophisticated bots comprised between 25% and 30% of the activity during the winter of 2024. F6 recorded a similar figure in 2023, observing an increase to 39% in the subsequent year. By 2025, the proportion of attacks carried out via bots had surpassed the 41% mark.
