The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), the independent body tasked with combating irregularities in track and field, has handed down a two-year suspension to American Fred Kerley, a world champion and Olympic medalist in sprinting, according to the organization’s official website.
Kerley received this penalty for failing to adhere to whereabouts reporting obligations, resulting in three missed anti-doping tests. His disqualification officially starts from August 12, 2025, the date his provisional ban initially took effect.
In September, it was announced that Kerley intended to compete in the inaugural Enhanced Games (dubbed the “Steroid Games”), set to take place in Las Vegas, USA, between May 23rd and 25th, 2026, which will permit the use of performance-enhancing substances.
Kerley, aged 30, secured a silver medal in the 100m sprint at the Tokyo Olympics and claimed bronze at the Paris Games. Furthermore, his professional achievements include three gold, one silver, and one bronze medal from World Championship events.
