The Spanish club Real Madrid secured a home victory against England’s Manchester City in the initial leg of the UEFA Champions League round of sixteen.
All three goals for the Madrid side, scored in the 20th, 27th, and 42nd minutes, were netted by midfielder Federico Valverde. In the 58th minute, the Royal Club’s winger Vinícius Júnior failed to convert a penalty kick.
The return fixture is scheduled for March 17th in Manchester.
