A resident of China’s Hunan province unearthed gold within the gizzard of his pet duck. Farmer Liu, whose surname is Liu, lets his fowl roam freely near a river where past gold mining operations took place, according to reports from the South China Morning Post.
While processing the bird, he discovered roughly ten grams of nuggets, later verified as genuine gold. The estimated worth of this find was about 12,000 yuan. Liu’s father regarded the event as an auspicious omen for the coming year.
Experts suggest that ducks inadvertently swallow metal blended with silt, and this material typically passes through their system naturally, though substantial fragments can lead to intestinal blockage.
