
The Washington Capitals have secured the commitment of defenseman Cole Hutson on an entry-level contract, as announced by the team’s official media relations. This three-year deal, carrying an annual cap hit of \$975,000, will commence at the start of the 2025-26 campaign.
Cole was initially selected by Washington in the second round, 43rd overall, of the 2024 NHL Draft.
During the 2025-26 collegiate season, Hutson accumulated 32 points (10 goals, 22 assists) across 35 games played for Boston University in the NCAA. He concluded his tenure in college hockey with a total of 80 points (24 goals, 56 assists) from 74 total contests, establishing the top scoring rate among all NCAA defensemen over the previous two seasons.
