Manchester City’s midfielder, Bernardo Silva, was sent off during the first half of the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 fixture against Real Madrid. Referee Clément Turpin issued the ‘Citizens’ captain a straight red card for a handball offense. Not only did the visitors gain a numerical advantage, but they were also awarded a penalty, which Vinícius Júnior successfully converted. This dismissal marks Silva’s very first sending-off in his Champions League history, and indeed, his first ever for Manchester City. The Portuguese international has featured in 448 matches wearing the colors of the English powerhouse. Bernardo Silva joined the ‘Sky Blues’ back in 2017, transferring from Monaco. His current agreement is set to conclude this coming summer.
