In the Turkish city of Bursa, law enforcement officers uncovered a young boy who had been held captive for seven years inside a dilapidated house amid piles of refuse, according to reports from Haberler.
The eight-year-old child, the son of a Turkish national father and a German national mother, was located in a state of severe emaciation. Initial indications suggest the boy had never been allowed outside since he was merely one year old.
Police managed to trace the boy’s whereabouts through the diligent efforts of a dedicated team of six specialists. These experts established continuous, round-the-clock surveillance on the child’s paternal grandmother.
This distressing narrative commenced in 2018, the year the couple, residing in Germany at the time, welcomed their son. A year later, the parents separated.
The father brought the child and his ex-wife to Turkey for a visit with his relatives. The man adamantly refused to return to Europe and insisted that the mother leave their son with him.
Soon after this juncture, the boy vanished. His mother repeatedly filed complaints with both the prosecutor’s office and the police, accusing her former partner and his mother of abduction.
However, the child could not be located at that time, compelling the woman to return to Germany. Throughout this entire period, the father’s relatives concealed the child within four walls, denying him access to schooling and any form of external interaction.
Two years ago, the father passed away following a heart attack. Nevertheless, the search for the child persisted. The primary focus of the investigation centered on the boy’s grandmother, who habitually disregarded court summonses.
A court mandated that the woman report to the police station every week, a requirement that ultimately enabled the special task force to track her movements.
On March 10th, operatives observed the woman cautiously entering a crumbling structure. Inside the building, surrounded by old garments and waste materials, the boy was found.
Currently, the child has been placed under the care of state social services for rehabilitation purposes. The child’s grandmother and another male relative have been detained on charges of unlawful confinement.
