Alexander Ovechkin, the Russian forward for the Washington Capitals, has reached 928 career goals in National Hockey League (NHL) championships, thereby establishing a new all-time goal-scoring record for the league.
The 40-year-old Russian achieved this milestone by netting two goals during a home regular-season game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Ovechkin is now the sole record holder for the most goals ever scored in NHL regular season history. His second goal against Philadelphia marked his 928th career tally. This achievement surpasses the previous league mark held by Canadian Wayne Gretzky, who finished his career with 894 goals across 1487 games.
