The Vancouver Canucks have announced the dismissal of General Manager Patrick Allvin. This information was shared by the team’s official press service on the X social network.
The Canucks concluded the 2025/26 season with a franchise-worst performance: achieving only 25 victories against 49 defeats, alongside eight overtime losses across 82 games. They finished with just 58 points, placing them 14 points behind the second-to-last team in the league. Consequently, Vancouver missed the playoffs for the fifth time in the past six years. Their 58-point tally matches the lowest they’ve recorded for a season, last seen in 1998/99.
Jim Rutherford, President of Hockey Operations for the Vancouver Canucks, who originally brought the GM into the organization, expressed his gratitude for Allvin’s efforts. “Under his guidance, we managed to accumulate a considerable amount of promising young talent, and he was instrumental in establishing the groundwork for our rebuilding process. Nevertheless, this past season was deeply disappointing for everyone involved with the organization,” Rutherford was quoted as saying on the official NHL website.
Allvin joined Vancouver in January 2022, following a 16-year tenure with the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he served as an assistant to Rutherford. During his tenure as GM, the team secured a playoff berth only once—in the 2023/24 season, advancing as far as the second round.
