Huawei is gearing up to launch a new flagship smartwatch iteration: the Huawei Watch Ultimate Design Diamond Edition. The official unveiling is scheduled for April 20th in China, an event where other gadgets, such as the Huawei Watch Buds 2, are also anticipated to be shown.
This new device serves as an extension of the Ultimate Design series, furthering the concepts initially established in the Huawei Watch Ultimate Design Royal Edition. Based on initial previews, the primary focus appears to be aesthetics: the timepiece is embellished with diamonds adorning the watch face, the casing, and the strap. These gems are strategically positioned at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock markers, and the body itself features faceting, lending the gadget a more pronounced jewelry-like character.
Modifications have also been made to the controls. Replacing the dual round buttons found on the predecessor, this version incorporates a digital crown paired with an elongated button. The overall styling leans more towards the decorative and targets the high-end market segment. While precise technical specifications remain under wraps, it is anticipated that this model will inherit the core functionalities of its previous iteration. These include a 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED screen, eSIM compatibility for untethered calling, and AI-powered noise cancellation.
The watch will also offer gesture control, enabling interaction with apps and calls without physical touch. For health tracking, the Health Glance feature is integrated, providing a rapid overview of key metrics such as heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and stress monitoring.
This wearable is designed for active use: it supports GPS, local music storage, and tracking for diverse sports like running, cycling, and golf. Furthermore, the watch is immersion-ready, boasting water resistance suitable for diving up to 150 meters, complete with a sonar-based communication feature for divers.
The official pricing has yet to be disclosed, but we can use the prior model as a benchmark: the Huawei Watch Ultimate Design Royal Edition was priced around 24,999 Yuan in China and exceeded €3,000 in Europe. All pertinent details will be made public during the forthcoming presentation.
