The former record stood at $1.4 million, established in June 2022. Curiously, that was the exact same price paid for this very jersey at that time.
Gretzky is currently 65 years old. He secured the Stanley Cup four times while playing for Edmonton (in 1984, 1985, 1987, and 1988). Subsequently, the Canadian forward continued his NHL career with teams such as the Los Angeles Kings, the St. Louis Blues, and the New York Rangers.
