Evgeni Malkin, the Russian forward for the Pittsburgh Penguins, participated in the fifth game of the Stanley Cup first-round series in 2026 against the Philadelphia Flyers.
According to the NHL’s official press service, this marks Malkin’s 182nd playoff appearance. The 39-year-old Russian now occupies the 39th spot all-time in league history for this metric. The record holder remains Chris Chelios, who accumulated 266 games played in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Malkin is now closing in on the benchmark set for Russian NHL players, currently held by Sergei Fedorov. Fedorov, a three-time Stanley Cup champion, has played in 183 playoff contests.
It should also be noted that Malkin himself has secured the Stanley Cup three times, all victories achieved while playing for Pittsburgh.
