United States President Donald Trump expressed confidence that the U.S. stands a strong possibility of sending astronauts back to the Moon prior to 2029, the year his second presidential term would conclude. This statement was made during a gathering with the crew of the Artemis-2 mission in the White House’s Oval Office.
Trump indicated that progress on the lunar initiative is ahead of schedule. NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman corroborated this, affirming that the agency is following a realistic strategy to bring humans back to the lunar surface.
“We have resumed launching lunar rockets at a good pace. The Artemis-2 mission just completed a lunar flyby. We are scheduled to launch the Artemis-3 mission in 2027, and we have reserved two opportunities for astronaut landings [on the Moon] in 2028,” Isaacman announced.
