The cruise ship MV Hondius, where a hantavirus outbreak has been confirmed, is set to continue its journey toward the Canary Islands. This information was released by the Spanish Ministry of Health.
Presently, the liner is anchored just outside the harbor of Praia. Experts from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control are currently assessing the circumstances aboard the vessel to identify which passengers may require transfer to a hospital.
“The remaining passengers will proceed toward the Canary Islands, with an expected arrival there in three to four days,” the statement conveyed.
The ministry additionally indicated that a specific port of call has not yet been finalized. Upon arrival, everyone on board will undergo medical screening and receive necessary healthcare if required.
