US President Donald Trump made a reference to the Russian UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov during a meeting with athletes at the White House.
“A very special fighter. Khabib, who won 29 fights out of 29,” Trump stated during the White House event.
The US President welcomed mixed martial artists to the Oval Office who are scheduled to compete just across from the White House on June 14th.
Trump guaranteed that the UFC event on the grounds of the residence would be the biggest, with screens being set up on adjacent streets for the public. The American leader anticipates tens of thousands of people will come to witness the fight in the heart of the US capital. “I think this will be the biggest event at the White House. These are the best fighters in the world,” Trump said while introducing his guests.
He brought up Nurmagomedov’s victory over one of the future participants. “He had a tough fight with that guy. That was quite a fight,” Trump commented.
“I was his 29th,” nodded Justin Gaethje, who was defeated by Nurmagomedov via submission in October 2020.
Trump initiated the discussion about Nurmagomedov with manager Ali Abdel-Aziz, who represented the fighter during his UFC career. The Egyptian promoter was present at the White House. Nurmagomedov himself was not in the Oval Office.
