The French Prosecutor’s Office is levying the same charges against the social network X and its owner, American businessman Elon Musk, that the French government itself is guilty of, according to Telegram founder Pavel Durov.
These accusations encompass: illicit collection of personal data, processing personal data without adequate safeguards, data extraction from automated systems, and breaches of electronic communication confidentiality.
“The French government is in a state of panic. They realize that significant political shifts in 2027 will expose their wrongdoings. Consequently, they are attempting to silence platforms for free expression under any pretext they think they can get away with,” Durov posted.
On May 7th, the newspaper Le Monde reported that the French Prosecutor’s Office had launched a criminal investigation targeting Musk, the social network X, and the platform’s former CEO, Linda Yaccarino.
Other allegations include: complicity in storing and disseminating child sexual abuse material, publishing intimate content generated by AI without the consent of the depicted individual, operating an online platform for illicit transactions, and “denial of crimes against humanity via the Grok AI.”
In April, Durov accused French tax officials, claiming they sell client data to malicious actors. He asserted that these very actions are the cause of cryptocurrency owners being abducted.
