Sony has unveiled the newest iteration of its wearable climate control gadget. Dubbed the Reon Pocket Pro Plus, this small device fastens around the neck and actively manages the user’s body temperature.
The Reon Pocket series has been evolving in Japan since 2019, but this latest model is now entering US and European markets, priced around 230 euros in the EU and 200 British pounds in the UK.
The primary enhancement involves achieving approximately a 20% boost in cooling performance compared to the prior generation. According to the company, the cooling plate’s temperature can drop an additional 2°C, which is intended to significantly enhance the sensation of coolness when worn outdoors. The physical design has also undergone revisions, featuring a more pliable neckband and an adjustable exhaust vent, designed to prevent warm air from becoming trapped beneath clothing.
The unit incorporates dual TEC modules and skin temperature sensors internally. Users can define a desired temperature setting via the corresponding application, while intelligent modes automatically adapt to ambient conditions. Control is also possible without a smartphone, utilizing integrated physical buttons.
The built-in battery provides roughly 15 hours of operation, and the optional Reon Pocket Tag 2 sensor monitors ambient temperature and humidity to assist the system in achieving greater precision.
