A tragedy unfolded in the Italian municipality of Sedico, situated in the Veneto province, sending shockwaves across the nation. According to reports from the publication Need To Know, on May 8th, Gabriele De March, the owner of a machine-building firm, decided to give his son, Lucas, a ride on a forklift within the premises of his company, Meccanica De March, after work hours had concluded.
At some point, the father became distracted, and the child lost his grip, tumbling from the moving machinery. The boy subsequently ended up beneath the forklift’s wheels. The horrified father promptly contacted emergency services, but the arriving medical personnel could only confirm that Lucas had succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Police are currently investigating to establish the full details surrounding this tragic incident. Local media outlets suggest that the entrepreneur may face charges related to involuntary manslaughter. Investigators are looking into whether safety regulations were adhered to at the facility and how Lucas managed to be present in the production area in the first place.
