According to a report by People magazine on May 16th, a 14-year-old in the United States unintentionally shot and killed a peer during a house party.
The event took place in the state of Pennsylvania during the daytime on May 14th. There were four young people present in the house: two males and two females. No adults were present at the time.
The teenagers entered a bedroom closet where the deceased girl’s mother kept a loaded handgun. They took the weapon and began playing with it.
At one point, the firearm discharged. The bullet struck the girl in the head. Although she was transported to a hospital by medical personnel, efforts to save her were unsuccessful.
The teenager has been charged with third-degree murder. Despite his age, he is slated to be tried as an adult.
