Google has unveiled a novel capability for Gmail, dubbed Gmail Live, enabling users to manage their inboxes through spoken instructions. This AI-powered feature streamlines the process of sifting through correspondence by allowing users to pose queries verbally instead of relying on conventional text-based searching.
During a presentation delivered by a Google representative, it was demonstrated how Gmail Live could address inquiries pertaining to matters such as a child’s school activities or forthcoming travel plans. For instance, a user could inquire about the date and venue of an event, and Gmail Live would retrieve and present this data extracted directly from the user’s emails.
A primary attribute of Gmail Live is its proficiency in comprehending natural human language and responding to follow-up questions. This fosters a more intuitive and accelerated method for information retrieval. Furthermore, Gmail Live is designed to cite the origin of the data it provides, thereby facilitating verification of answer accuracy.
The Gmail AI Inbox suite will also incorporate other supplementary tools, such as pre-composed draft replies and immediate file access. The Gmail Live functionality is slated for release in the summer of 2026, exclusively for subscribers of the Google AI Pro and Ultra tiers.
