A joyous occasion unfolded at Zhongnan Hospital, affiliated with Wuhan University, with the discharge of quintuplets hailing from Xinjiang. The little ones were born prematurely at 28 weeks and spent 86 days under the attentive care of medical professionals.
Four of the babies were fully recovered and ready to go home, while one remained hospitalized for an additional couple of days due to a mild cold.
This event was truly a medical marvel, given the extremely low survival rates associated with quintuplet births. Their current weight has increased by 3.5 times compared to their birth weight.
At the discharge ceremony, the parents expressed their gratitude to the doctors by treating them to traditional Xinjiang delicacies, including a whole roasted lamb. The medical staff, in return, gifted the children new clothing. The infants’ grandparents traveled 5,000 kilometers to personally collect their grandchildren from the hospital.
